Nycticorax nycticorax
Adults are short-necked, short-legged and stout herons with a primarily brown or grey plumage, and, in most, a black crown. Young birds are brown, flecked with white. At least some of the extinct Mascarenes taxa appear to have retained this juvenile plumage in adult birds.
This night heron, adult, came in my face a few feet; for a few minutes to "styling" and then flew to another part...Was so close that I not even breathe:) I was lucky to photograph in the golden light of sunset!
Ashish, most of my pictures are made only in two places: in my garden or on a lake located at 50km away from my house; here I go as often as possible...
However, India is a country richer in flora and fauna than Romania!:)
Have a great day and good light:)
Thanks Doina for sharing your experience...
I can not stop any place more than a hour... as I have to travel away 300 to 400 KMs away from home for good spottings... Here in India good habitats are almost vanished near my hometown city Mumbai... :(
even so it is, Ashish!:)....sometimes , I looking for a bird and a full day, but,
happen to not see....usually I fix my place of "hunting" and I installed there before the birds come;that means you know habits, times when I come to feed or walk....In any case, it is very important the camouflage equipment (clothes)...
I always wonder... how much time you wait for birds to grab such nice poses... I feel you must wait for at least 2-12 hours at one place...
Thanks a lot, Ashish! Always I try to capture great expressions or behavior of birds, but I am not always lucky...:)
Sachin Zaveri, everyone has the same impression of that picture!:))
Thanks a lot for your visiting!
Welcome...
I like your dedication to shoot various expressions on Birds faces... I love that type of Photography... Hope I get lot such time to shoot birds....!!
Magical and illusion creating pictures,
In fist one at fist look it seems that Heron had passed his leg out of his head,
