It looks very much like the Bryony ladybird larva - pre-pupal stage (Epilachna argus). The outer layer of the pupa tends to have more spikes. Check this out:http://www.flickriver.com/photos/ashe/70...
I think, because I found these nearby the Golden Tortoise Beetles, I assumed these are the older larvae. Is it possible?

I suspect a beetle larvae but this one might be hard to determine.
