Redneck Moth

Lemya bornemontana

Description:

Note that it's common name isn't it's real name. I call it that because there is a distinctive bright red line between it's hairy head and thorax. It's main color is creamy brown. Legs and antennas are black, and so are it's dotted patterns. I have finally identified this as a Lemya bornemontana. It was tough for me to identify this because there is a pattern morph in this moth. It has less black spots on the lower streak on it's wings than other moths of the same species.

Habitat:

Lower forest elevation of Kinabalu Park, Kundasang, Sabah, Malaysia.

Notes:

I found it in the same resting hut as the atlas moth. It is resting on the stony wall of the hut, awaiting nightfall. >>>Map accuracy : 50m diameter.
