Acacia leaf beetle

Calomela curtsi

Description:

A red leaf beetle with dark elytra patches and pronotal spots.

Habitat:

On Acacia (Black Wattle; Acacia mearnsii) in a nature reserve.

Notes:

Of course this photograph was set up. The native flowers (Geraldton Wax; Chamelaucium uncinatum) come from my garden. The wind was too strong for easy photography in the field.

Yes it wasn't so keen on flowers. You never find these on the wrong plant
