Variegated Urchin

Lytechinus variegatus

Habitat:

sandy, grassy bottoms

Notes:

Usually seen covered with shells and seaweed that they use for camouflage and protection. Sometimes covered with human litter like plastic spoons, etc. dropped by bathers. Seen a pic that (not for the fact that it is pollution) was very humorous, as one had "put on" a pair of sunglasses it found.

Beautiful. Looks like there is a bit of turtle grass around also.
