As far as I know these commonly seen eggs on stalks are lacewings. They possibly relate to the common green form that you thought you had spotted. You may enjoy my comments on this spotting. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/685...

Thanks martinl. I will change the ID - yes, he did have a broad out-curved line to the base of the wings. I haven't seen one before so, I was really excited when he flew into the kitchen last night.
He had lost the tip of one of the antennae !

Nice spotting. I wouldn't like to be this guy on a windy day. I suggest this ID based on the wide wings at the base (shoulders).
