unknown spotting

Description:

Cluster of golden yellow spheres, each 3-4 mm in diameter.

Habitat:

Freshwater stream in tropical insular lowland urban area.

Notes:

Spotted on the underside of a rock in Manoa Stream while out hunting flatworms with my daughter. The flatworm hunt involved flipping over rocks in stagnant or slowly-flowing water at the edge of the stream to inspect their undersides for worms. Upon flipping one rock I spotted the unknown objects. They were almost certainly eggs, but whether of a fish, arthropod, amphibian or reptile I have no idea, although I am skeptical of the fish possibility. Given the size of the spheres and the small space under the rock before I lifted it, I don't believe a fish small enough to get under the rock could have laid eggs as big as what was spotted.
