Ironweed Weevil

Rhodobaenus tredecimpunctatus

Description:

About one centimeter long, dorsal side red with black spots on its pronotum and abdomen.

Habitat:

Forest--plants in the family Asteraceae

Notes:

I can't look at this picture without the caption "The ironweed weevil surveys his kingdom." I imagine this as the insect world equivalent of the Lion King. Found at Barbara A. Beiser Field Station.
