I didn't know, but I looked it up :) ... They lay their egg (sometimes eggs) in it and the larva develops inside. There is an article describing the whole process in more detail here: http://entnemdept.ufl.edu/creatures/misc...

Do you know why they roll the leaves like that? Are they laying eggs inside? Hiding from predators?
