Thank you ForestDragon for correcting this spotting. The little bird was so yellow that I would never have thought of a house sparrow, even though I know the males have a black throat. Thanks so much!

Definitely a young male House Sparrow.

Nice capture! I think this looks more like a juvenile male, House Sparrow. The yellow cast on the belly is likely from reflection from the sun hitting the plant on which the bird is perched.

The black on the throat, as well as the white stripe just above the eye and white wingbar on brown wings are consistent with Passer domesticus. Here are a couple of similar images for comparison: http://us.123rf.com/450wm/isselee/issele...
