Very small spotted toad (about the size of a fingernail) living by the river in Ohio.

Living among the rocks by the Miami river in Ohio

I tentatively vote for Fowler's toad (Bufo fowleri). If the cranial crests touch the parotoid glands, it's B. fowleri. If they do not touch, it's Bufo americanus (American toad).

There are 2 types of toads in Ohio per this resource: Eastern American Toad (more likely) and Fowler's Toad. Both are 2-3 inches.

No worries Ceci! Trying to find IDs is a lot of fun, but it's a good idea to check for species distribution as well. The Encyplodia of Life (EOL) provides great maps for the distribution of many species. Check it out :-)

I don't have an ID for this spotting, but Alytes obstetricans is a European species.
