Gayfeather or Blazing Star

Liatris

Description:

Excellently showy flower sprouting from a long stalk. Generally about 2-3 feet tall spikes with 3-5 spikes coming from each plant. It is a perennial that comes back annually and has a featherlike flower.

Notes:

Is a plant I have in my outdoor flowerbeds that grows in an area that is almost full sun. It grows along side some bayberry bushes and false sunflower plantings. It has come back regularly each year for over 6 years with very little attention needed to take care of it. It attracts many bugs including bees, butterflies and beetles. Plant it near butterfly bush and you will receive many pollinators to it.
