Gasteracantha cancriformis
A white and black crab-looking spider with 6 black spines: 2 on each side of its body, and two on the rear. White body with black legs, face and spots on the back. The spots almost look like a face. The spider is about 1.5" wide.
The spider was hanging upside down on its web that it built at an angle under a red bud tree. This is typical behavior for these spiders.
Happy Buggy Halloween!
