Spotfin burrfish

Chilomycterus reticulatus

Description:

Short spines on a gray body, with many black spots all over the body & fins. Very large eyes. Length upto 55 centimetres.

Habitat:

Hides mostly during the days in caves or holes, found at depths between 6 and 36 metres. Mostly solitary - feeds on sea urchins and crabs.

Notes:

If threatened inflates by drawing in water, turning into a ball of spines. May bite divers if harassed.
