Orange sporangia of slime mold

Physarum melleum

Description:

Several dozen orange spheres, ~ 0.5 mm in diameter, atop white stalks 0.5-0.7 mm long, emerging from dried mud. [N.B. Also imaged, albeit unintentionally--they weren't noticed when the image was recorded--were four light gray insects ~ 1.2 mm long, almost translucent in appearance and also unidentified.]

Habitat:

Suburban neighborhood on insular tropical upland plateau.

Notes:

Spotted in my back yard.
