This Carpentar bee, Xylocopa caerulea , is covered with short blue hairs on its thorax and it was such a contrast to the black abdomen and wings.
Spotted this at a Highland area with the elevation of about 1500 meters.

Sachin Zaveri ...thank you. In my whole time spent in the Mountain regions and Rain forest never have I seen a Blue Bumble Bee or even know of their existence. This spotting took about 4 minutes and it was gone. I have Been to the same location for about 3 more times and waited between early morning and evenings but it is nowhere to be seen.

It is indeed beautiful KarenL . Never knew that it comes in Blue until this sighting.
There was a similar sighting in Singapore on this Blue Carpentar bee.
