White-Marked Tussock Moth Caterpillar

Description:

Pale green caterpillar with bold black vertical line, with yellow stripes on each side. Four white tufts of hair, two black long hairs on head side, and red long hair at bottom with the rest covered in fine white hairs. Red head. 2 red glands on sixth and seventh abdominal segments.

Habitat:

Spotted on a Willow Tree. Area is a gated man-made lake community, surrounded by rural agricultural land, and some deciduous forest areas. In areas that are not mowed, the land is old fields within the community, and are mowed biannually.
