Sicalis flaveola
The canary-the-ground-true, also known as canary-the-garden-of-the-canary tile (Santa Catarina), canary-the-field, flat iron (Minas Gerais), canary floor (Bahia), an altar boy and canary-the-ground and head-to-fire, is admired by a bird singing strong and clicked and so is often trapped like a bird in captivity (in the top 10 is seized, according to the IBAMA) even if such act is considered a crime Federal non-bailable by the Environmental Crimes Law (Law 9.605/98). Thanks to action by the authorities and public awareness, records of the canary-of-the-land-real are becoming more frequent in recent years.
It is present in the south of Maranhão to Rio Grande do Sul and Mato Grosso to the west and the islands of the coast of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. Also found locally in the Guianas, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina.
