Shaggy-velvet Servaea

Servaea villosa

Description:

A small (8mm?) very hairy spider with robust shortish legs and mottled patterns all over of cream, grey, chocolate, black and a hint of pale blue. Very fast moving; trying to hide in the deep crevices of bark. Nice smile.

Habitat:

This one on Eucalyptus melliodora - Yellow Box Gum; suburban parklands near open dry sclerophyll eucalyptus forests.

Notes:

Moved so fast I thought it was a jumping spider until I zoomed in.

Wow I think you've hit the nail on the head CBK. Thanks so much. I searched for 30 mins and wasn't getting anywhere. Hadn't even seen that spider website before either. Excellent.

Very nice! You are right, it does look like a jumping spider but the eyes are wrong - interesting!
