Dwarf Chinese Delphinium

Delphinium grandiflorum

Description:

Big dark bluish-purple flower about 4-6 inches in diameter.

Habitat:

Texas region.

Notes:

Im not sure if this is a Delphinium. I know it was bought from Lowes and planted, and it was supposed to be perennial, but it died in the winter.

Beautiful photos.

the flower conformation is like delphinium, but the size of the flower you give seems to eliminate that possibility, if you're talking about just one of the flowers, not the whole stalk. Delphinium florets tend to be only a couple inches across each. The shape of the leaf would be helpful to know.

I think Edward is right. These look like a garden hybrid Delphinium, which aren't bulbous.

this looks like Delphinium.
