A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Chen caerulescens
This pair of immature snow geese was seen grazing with several dozen Canada geese near the Fisher's Landing transit station in Vancouver WA on January 31, 2012.
Immature Snow Geese will have the darker legs and duskier feather on the back. These birds show the black wingtips that snow geese have. The bills are the right color and shape and everything else fits. The staining on the faces is really common and occurs when they are feeding in certain areas.
