A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Myiarchus crinitus
Medium-sized songbird; large flycatcher. Bright yellow belly. Cinnamon rufous in wings and tail. Pale wingbars.
The Great Crested Flycatcher is a bird of the treetops. It spends very little time on the ground, and does not hop or walk. It prefers to fly from place to place on the ground rather than walk. Breeds in open deciduous woodlands, old orchards, riparian corridors, wooded swamps, parks, cemeteries, and urban areas with large shade trees. Winters in humid forests and second growth. They eat insects, other invertebrates and some small fruit
LOL Donna, the one that has it now, left with it just as the other was landing. Wish I would have taken a few more burst shots...
Lovely spot!
You should consider adding this to the Hunters & Animal Food Habits mission too!
