Maguey or Agave

Description:

Plant native to the western desert regions. It blooms only once in his life, between 10 and 25 years of age. Earlier, develops a large stem that grows rapidly to around 12 m in length. The flowers are large and green, cover short horizontal branches that grow in the upper half of stem. Maguey leaves are large, thick, fleshy, can store large amounts of water.
