Spring Peeper

Pseudacris crucifer

Description:

Found in the back yard in the grass after mowing. It appears to be just a juvenile - it is very small compared to others I have seen around here. It could jump several feet, despite its small size.

Habitat:

Back yard in suburbs - a stream is nearby.

Notes:

Thanks to AshleyT for the correct ID!

It's smaller than other wood frogs you've seen because this isn't a wood frog :) This is one of the chorus frogs, and they don't get to be very big. The "x" on the back is your key character to IDing this as a spring peeper.
