Yellow-tailed Ashy Skimmer

Description:

A medium sized dragonfly with bluish black thorax and yellow tail with black markings. Face is olivaceous yellow to steel black or brown. Eyes are reddish brown above and bluish grey below. Thorax is black in adults and covered with bluish pruinescence. In young adults, yellow markings are visible through the pruinescence. Abdomen basal segments are covered with bluish pruinescence.

Habitat:

It is neither common nor scarce. Usually perches in very high while preying. Appears near body of water to mate and lay eggs during bright hot afternoon and disappear after that. They are often seen perched high up on electric cables.
