Juvenile Fishing Spider

Dolomedes sp.

Description:

Too young to identify species, though likely to be Dolomedes tenebrosus. Pale colored with brown markings and banded legs. Coloration will darken with subsequent molts towards maturity. As adults, these spiders can be quite large and are often mistaken for wolf spiders by many.

Habitat:

Temperate woodland. Rockwood Park, Virginia.
