Cypripedium calceolus
It has declined over much of the European part of its range, and as a result is legally protected in a number of countries. Now in France it's not very commun to see it.
It is found in open woodland on moist calcareous soils

I hope so. This is one of the largest orchids encountered in France naturally.

In the UK there is only one known wild plant left! The Victorians were very fond of digging it up, and digging it up.....
A few seed raised progeny have been reintroduced and are doing well apparently, so there is still some hope for it here.
