Pepsis sp (wasp and Beauveria sp. fungus)

Description:

Esta es una avispa del genero Pepsis, ellas por lo general atrapan arañas, en las cuales luego de paralizarlas les depositan huevos en su abdomen donde sus larvas se alimentarán, en este caso la predada fue la avispa.

Habitat:

Cloud forest

Notes:

This is a wasp of the genus Pepsis, they usually catch spiders, paralyzing them and lay eggs in the abdomen, where the larvae then feed. In this case the wasp WAS affected by a fungus.

FluffBerger, it is both the antennae cover with fungus, this was is very large about 7 cm.
