Funambulus pennantii
The drey was built hidden behind a creeper and supported by the building's wall. It was hidden by the leaves during the time the babies were in the nest. Then one day the babies cascaded out of the nest, "like a waterfall" said my neighbour...well all the babies except this one. The tiniest one. It came out onto the railing of the staircase landing and seemed too small to scamper away. There were crows and kites etc., around which would have found it delicious. So we rescued it.

It went to sleep in my neighbour's palm and we replaced it in the nest. The mother came back and we did not disturb the family.

Thank you Riyan. It was the littlest baby in the lot...it wasn't quite ready to come out into the world so we put it back in its nest. Its Mummy was near by.
It is so tiny
Very cute.
Thanks, Neil...it was so trusting.
Oh so cute! An instant fave. Lovely spotting, Sukanya.
