Bubo virginianus
Large owl with ear tufts.
Found from the Arctic tundra to the tropical rainforest, from the desert to suburban backyards, the Great Horned Owl is one of the most widespread and common owls in North America.
These two are currently nesting near my house. They took over a red-tailed hawks nest. The two hawks are still in the area and I'm hoping they'll take up residence again when the squatters leave!

Thanks again Tanya!
Great nest shot! Handsome looking owl.
Ya, we got done early! Well, I'll see you again one of these days! Hit me up if you are in the area!
I've been working the farm in the morning...I love that side...but I miss everyone at the ICU! I was coming for lunch yesterday but Andrea was done, and no one was there to eat!! ;-)
You should! I keep missing you at BPF. Next time you are in the area give me a call, I'll show you where they are. I think I am going to rent a better lens so I can get some good pics of the babies without disturbing them!
Beautiful!! I want to come see the nest sometime!! Great shots Emily!
