Pacific Partridge Tun

Tonna perdix

Description:

A large species of sea snail whose shell pattern and brownish color reminds one of a partridge. "The Partridge Tun hunts across the flats at night and ventures up onto the reef. It feeds mostly on sea cucumbers; once prey is located, it is held in the extensive foot while the mollusk buries to consume its meal. " - Source: Neville Coleman's Marine Life eGuide

Notes:

Spotted during a night dive at Dive and Trek House Reef.

Wow, look at that awesome mantle! Always amazes me when I think about how it fits all that into its shell. :D
