Cyanopica cooki
The red marks on the face around the bill come from the fruit of the Prickly Pear Cactus which these birds like to eat the inside of by burying their heads in it.

Thank you all. Ashish, these Magpies flock up to 50 or more, if you see one you will surely see 20 or more just by looking around. The (European) Magpie, Pica pica, is normally found in family parties, up to a dozen or more birds. When in Sri Lanka we saw the endemic Sri Lanka Blue Magpies in a flock of about half a dozen. In Malaysia we have seen Green Magpies both singly and in small family groups, and the same in USA with their Magpies.
I agree with leuba ,very lovely!!
what a lovely bird - no stunning colours (from what I can see in the photos) but there is something so lovely. I like the striking black heads. Thanks for sharing this.
I never saw magpies in India in such flock... Always seen lone or pair.. This is learning lesson Malcolm.
