Callidula sumatrensis
Day-flying moth found on lowland forest. It rests with it's wings in a butterfly-like upright position and flies during the day.
Tropical forest.
CALLIDULA is a genus of BUTTERFLY MOTHS of the family Callidulidae and subfamily Callidulinae. Consisting of 3 subfamilies and 8 genera, Callidulidae is restricted to the Old World tropics of Southeast Asia to Australasia and Madagascar. Its 3 subfamilies exhibit both day-flying and night-flying behavior. The mainly day-flying CALLIDULINAE can be distinguished by their resting posture, which is the most butterfly-like, with the wings held closely over the back. Resembling the butterfly family Lycaenidae, these moths can be told apart by their antennae which taper to a point or may be very subtly clubbed. The Callidulinae ranges from India and southern Siberia through the Indo-Australian tropics to the Solomons but not Australia. (Wikipedia)
