Just checked, the African Hoopoe is a different species and has a much darker rufous colour. See here: http://www.oiseaux-birds.com/card-hoopoe...

I'm sure they are more orange here sometimes perhaps these are all in their winter coats.

In Africa they seem to have much more orange color.
