Flying Golden Tree Snake

Chrysopelea ornata

Description:

A beautiful slim snake. About a meter long. Its main colour is green with black markings. Its belly is yellowish. It is very curious and not at all aggressive. It is venomous but not dangerous to men.

Habitat:

I noticed it dropping itself of our roof onto a banana leaf and sliding downwards towards the ground. It stayed in the tree for quite some time. It was the middle of the day. Our garden has many banana trees, rubber trees and grass. It is comfortable around people as we have been finding its skin in our garage.

Notes:

I heard some common minah birds making a lot of noise and when I investigated I saw this snake dropping onto the banana tree. We have spotted it for the first time 4.5 years ago when it was a baby , and have been finding his/her skin in the garage ever since. :-) The skin gets bigger every time. I have never seen it glide :-(
