Family: Acrididae. Subfamily: Melanoplinae. Genus: Melanoplus. Adult male length: 26-37 mm. Adult female length: 34-50 mm. Estimate length of this grasshopper is around 35 mm. Coloring: Brownish/green with blackish grooves on the pronotum (foremost of the 3 segments in the thorax.) Yellow antennae. Variety of foods including ragweed and sunflowers. Considered an agricultural pest in great numbers.
