Blackbuck During the early 20th century, blackbuck were exported from India for sport hunting and ornamental purposes.
Blackbucks originally ranged over large tracts of India except in north-eastern India. Today the blackbuck population is confined to areas in Maharashtra, Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka with a few small pockets in Central India.

Thanks Leuba, it was really a nice to see them in wild it was wonderful experience, and good thing is that they are safe there, even at time of our visit we also had to pass through some formalities for security purpose.
.....and great to see them in the wild. I hope they are protected.
Have never seen any wild black buck or pictures of them - they are such handsome animals. I love the brown stripes down their legs and their horns.

According to the Hindu mythology Blackbuck or Krishna Jinka is considered as the vehicle (vahana) of the Moon-god Chandrama.
According to the Garuda Purana of Hindu Mythology, Krishna Jinka bestows prosperity in the areas where they live.
A blackbuck is featured in the 2010 film Prince of Persia.
