Polistes carolina

Description:

A red paper wasp found on my neighbors mailbox. Like all paper wasps these guys chew up plant and wood fibers into a sticky goo and build their nests out of that. Paper wasps build some of the largest wasp nests.

Habitat:

Polistes carolina is most commonly found in the eastern United States
