I think this is a Peregrine Falcon but I am not sure.
Peregrines have thick black patches under the eyes and the whole head would look black.
I agree with Ashley's ID suggestion. This looks like a Cooper's Hawk. Check out the link provided to compare. They are backyard hunters so it is not uncommon to see them going after birds and squirrels.
