Description:

This ant has a dark gaster with the rest of the body, a lighter chestnut red in colour. They are about 3 - 3.5 mm in length. When disturbed and while foraging, they are known to raise their gaster vertically.

Habitat:

It is a very common ant throughout the India subcontinent. These ants are known to make carton nests in open scrublands.
