Lycid mimicking weevil

Rhinotia haemoptera

Description:

This red weevil is an accurate mimic of the long nosed lycid beetle. This gives it a useful protection from hungry birds who presume it is a yucky lycid.

Thanks Mark
There are certainly a lot in this mimicry ring.
Several Buprestidae (Castiarina) are included.
I have added a better photo of one with both antennae intact.

Fabulous weevil ! Those lycids must sure pack a punch for so many others to mimic.
