Sousa plumbea
These dolphins were sighted in the Strait of Hormuz, just of the Musandam Peninsula which is part of the Sultanate of Oman. This species is characterized by the conspicuous humps and elongated dorsal fins found on the back of adults, and its distribution.
Spotted in a fjord-like inlet near Khasab.
Better known as a strategic hotpoint, the Strait of Hormuz is also a cetacean hotspot and home to many species of whales, orcas and dolphins. These dolphins were swimmning in mixed pods together with other dolphins species.
