Description:

Librea 3 (usually in young individuals) (generalmente en individuos jóvenes). The coloration in this species varies greatly even with the mood of the fish. Liveries most common: Livery 1 (normal). Color dark brown mottling on the back and lighter on the belly. Clear lines under the eyes and drawings in a grid pattern as H on the side of light color. Livery 2 (breeding male). Color very dark almost black. Mesh-like spots under the eyes and also extend to the body although sometimes not easily distinguished. Livery 3 (usually in young individuals). Light background. Dark band extending from the eye to the back of the queue. Dark spot at the base of the dorsal fin. Drawing a mesh under the eyes extending down his face. Drawing H-shaped lighter colored flanks. Livery 4 (reproductive female). Body yellowish. Drawing a mesh under the eyes. Reproduction: They breed in spring. During this time, both sexes have very different colors being the very dark males and females yellow. Fondo claro. Banda oscura que se extiende desde el ojo hasta la parte posterior de la cola. Mancha oscura en la base de la aleta dorsal. Dibujo en forma de malla debajo de los ojos que se extiende por el rostro. Dibujo en forma de H de color más claro en los flancos. Librea 4 (hembra reproductora). Cuerpo de color amarillento. Dibujo en forma de malla debajo de los ojos. Reproducción: Se reproducen en primavera. Durante esta época ambos sexos presentan coloraciones muy diferentes siendo la de los machos de color muy oscuro y las hembras de color amarillo. El macho atrae a una o varias hembras a una cavidad para que realice la puesta y cuando suelta los huevos la expulsa. La puesta es fijada al sustrato y ésta será cuidada por los machos que se encargarán de su defensa y oxigenación.

Habitat:

Costa rocosa a orillas del Mar Mediterráneo en La Manga (Murcia).
