Thank you very much Karen! It was wet from the pull. Next time I see one on land, i'll look to see if it has a matt hairy body. thank you for changing to arthropods for me i use the android app and they only have so much to choose from. thanks again!

I lightened & cropped your photo so I could have a better look. The markings & anatomy seem close to to those of the wolf spiders (Lycosidae sp) but these usually have matt hairy bodies whereas this one looks smooth - or could it be shiny because it is wet? The good news is this isn't a venomous brown recluse which is resembles superficially. If you aren't able to get an ID from the Noah community you might like to try requesting an ID on bugguide.net
