Hi there! I just was getting ready to post a hoverfly, and saw your posting. The dark back and brownish eyes make me believe this is a T. marginatus, which has a caramel-brown color in-between the black bars on its back, instead of yellow. Lovely picture!

Cindy, I think it is a hoverfly just do not know for sure. so I am going to name it hoverfly till someone challenges it.
