Bracket fungus

Description:

I was walking on a mountain near my house when I spotted several fungi equal to this on the ground, on rotten branches. Fungi are very important for the environment because they make the decomposition of dead organic matter. And oddly enough, fungi are more closely related animals than plants.

Habitat:

This fungus was found after a few days of rain on a mountain, in Atlantic Forest, along with many others like it, in many rotten twigs.
