Mangrove crab

Scylla serrata

Description:

Dead and desiccated crab; three legs on starboard and only one to port; one eye missing but no eye-patch. Hours in the hot sun may have turned it orange-pink where it might have normally been olive to brown.

Habitat:

At the high tide mark among mangroves.

Notes:

These crabs are highly cannibalistic in nature and when another crab undergoes moulting the hard shelled ones attack the moulting crabs and devour them.
