Chlenias auctaria
The caterpillar was about 35 mm long. The soft body was covered with intricate patterns of white lines on black, lateral lines of yellow. The head was a pale bluespeckled with black. The caterpillars true legs were deep red.
Spotted on a myrtle shrub in a national park.
The caterpillar is said to feed on 17 species of unrelated plants and is said to be a pest in pine plantations.

yes Leuba, I agree about there being so many missions. Good to keep it simple!
Thanks Pam. I did not know - there are so many Missions, it's a little overwhelming. Also It makes sense to me to keep them together with moths & butterflies.
