I found this inects on a magnolia tree.
The beetle was attracted to the oozing sap, caused by parasite scab like insects that were all over the trunk, and the surrounding branches of the magnolia tree.

I saw a few of this in my Garden when I lived in California. I called them Fig Beetle. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Figeater_b...
