Green fruit beetle, or Fig beetle

Cotinis mutabilis

Habitat:

I found this inects on a magnolia tree.

Notes:

The beetle was attracted to the oozing sap, caused by parasite scab like insects that were all over the trunk, and the surrounding branches of the magnolia tree.
