The Ermine or White Tailed Weasel
Long body type with white short fur, long tail with a black tip
This white tailed weasel lives in the wood pile beside the chicken coup ! in S/w Ontario Canada !
This little weasel is vary aggressive, bites fast and jumps vary high ~!
Very cute! I have three ferrets so weasel always reminds me of my ferret kids! Nice spotting!
I'm gonna say long-tailed weasel. The tail is more than half the head and body length, if it were shorter it would be a ermine/stoat/short-tailed weasel. Beautiful animal.
Well if it ever goes after your chickens, you might be able to satisfy it with a little cat food kibble. Cute friend!
well there was just too many rats for the little weasel, so i fixed most the rats. The weasel squeaks at me when ever i walk by the wood pile :) i think it likes me now!:) new friend ;)
I avoid poison; perhaps it's better even for your chickens to let the weasel do its job. And then you get to enjoy the weasel, too! Such pretty things.
I found that a group of rats had moved in under the chicken coup over the winter- so i feed them rate bait lately and it worked but now the ermine is bugging the chickens ! so far there all accounted for :)
If none of your chickens have gone missing, I'm guessing the ermine is eating the mice who are eating the grain that the chickens miss.
is this a ermine or a stoat - maybe it is! it could be ? thanks I look it up :)!
The weasel is white due to its winter coat. The ermine or short-tailed weasel is identifiable by its black tip on its tail which your photos show here.
